Birding/Bird I.D. in XCA Desert

Question
I live near Palm Springs, CA. Recently a pair of small birds built a next in my prickly Madagascar Palm (Pachypodium). The nest is about five-inches long, three inches in diameter, and appears to be like a water glass-shaped abode laying at about a 45 degree angle in parallel with and resting on the branch it lays upon, hidden rather well by the long leaves. The only physical attributes of one of the birds I can observe: about three-inches long, yellowish head (in sunlight), dark red or maroon marks (1/4" by 1/4") on each shoulder where wing begins. No noticeable marks around the eyes. Breast has a greenish haze to it. Your assistance is sincerely appreciated.

Answer
I wish I could help you, but I am an expert on Bluebirds and small cavity nesters but don't have a clue when it comes to western birds, warblers, etc. Go to the library and look at BIRDS OF NORTH AMERICA or several other bird books which will have a picture of your bird. Good luck. Bluebird Bob Walshaw.
