Birding/Dead Newborn birds

Question
Hi Roger
I have been feeding wild birds on my balcony for the past 3 years.  In the past 4 days I've found 2 dead newborn birds (featherless)left on my balcony. I'm not sure why this has happened. Hope you are able to provide some insight.
Thank you

Answer
Without seeing the situation, I can't tell you exactly. They could have fallen out of the nest or predators (cat, rat, jay) could have taken them out of their nest and dropped them on your balcony. Considering you found two birds on different days, I'd say a predator dropped them there.
