Question
I need a bit of help. I founding my truck tire a robins nest with two eggs in it. now the truck was moved yesterday and this morning there it is.  From my understanding that is impossible because robins only lay one egg a day but iam 95% sure they are robin eggs. Ok so to the problem I had to move the nest and it wasn't built very well the sides were strong but not the bottom I took out eggs moved nest but didn't have good location to move it to. So I put eggs in shoe box because Ididnt want to start the incubation and know they are still good but I'm sure momma won't go to where I move nest to. She will start again now can I find another robins nest to adopt eggs or are they done for unless I incubate and feed... I have taken care of baby sparrows before even taught them how to fly but this is different I can't teach migration I live in erie pennsylvania...any help would be great thank you dawn

Answer
It may sound hard hearted, but when a bird loses its first eggs it will almost always lay more somewhere else. Let nature take its course and destroy the eggs. Also incubating and feeding young birds is illegal in many areas and also is not good. They bond to the feeder, never learn to forage well or to recognize predators and rarely survive in the wild. If they do you are releasing a weakling into the gene pool.
