Birding/Male blue bird beating at window

Question
We've had a lot of b.birds in the past and never had this behavior.  We have a male who is consistently beating against our windows.  We have phoebes nesting on the house and he was aggressive toward them too (birds always got along well in the past).  I've lowered outside shades and he moves to a different window.  He keeps looking in and hanging on the screens.  Any suggestions on what's going on and what to do to curtail it.  I've tried streamers hung outside and that didn't help.  My cats staring out at him, doesn't faze him.
Thanks
Kay

Answer
This is normal behavoir and many birds do it. He sees his reflection as competition. The advice we give is to soap the window, put up a screen, hang strips of plastic (Mylar) or ignore it. It will stop after nesting season. If you have or want to have Bluebird houses please send your mailing address to me at walshaw1@cox.net and I will send you my free 20 page Bluebird book. The address will be used only to mail the book, and I have sent out more than 2300. Bluebird Bob.
