Birding/Baby robin

Question
Four days ago we found an abandoned baby robin sitting on a bush road.  It was very hot and dry out and I'm sure it couldn't have survived for lon.  There was no nest or parent robins in sight.  We've been feeding it nothing but washed worms.  It rained and the worms are very muddy and I think the extra moisture may be good.  What else do we need to feed for a balanced diet?  Would chopped up raisins or mashed apple be good?

Answer
The best thing would be to leave the bird where it was - the parents were around somewhere. But it is now too late. It is VERY difficult to raise a wild bird. If it is still alive, try to find a wildlife rehab center in your area. Failing that, go to www.ornithology.com/rehab.html for advice. Good luck and thanks for your concern. Roger Lederer
