Birding/Bird egg

Question
My daughter found an intact bird egg neatly deposited on our front porch. The egg had obviously been very recently laid. It is a small white egg about the size of a robin egg. Is there anything we can do for it?

Answer
If it was not in a nest, a bird mistakenly laid it there or it was taken out of a nest by a predator -rat, cat, etc. It is much too hard to try to incubate the egg and raise the young yourself. But you might want to bring it to a local wildlife rehab center if you have one and see if they want to try. Roger Lederer at Ornithology.com
