Birding/Bluebird attacks windows

Question
A pair of bluebirds raised a family in our back yard (mostly pine trees).  Now one bluebird keeps attacking our windows.  He isn't frightened off by our waving at him; he just moves to another window.  Frankly, he is making a mess of our windows.  We tried putting a cutout of a hawk, but no use.  Cats (inside) don't frighten him either.  Happens whether blinds are open or closed.  He sits on the windowsill till we chase him, then flies at the windows, making a mess.  Any ideas?

Answer
Very normal behavior. A cardinal is attacking my window now. The males fight their reflecton. It usually stops after the mating season. Possible solutions:

1. Cover window with cloth or paper.
2. Hang garden netting.
3. Soap window.
4. Hang strips of cloth, ribbon or mylar
5. Ignore it.
