Question I am in desperate need of an answer. I have 5 domesticated ducks on my pond. We have recued them from a garage 4 months ago. They have been living on the pond until now my pond is frozen. They have no water. I have put out corn and duck food daily out for them. I don't think they can live out there much longer. Should I get them out of that situation and put them in my garage for the Winter? Do they get cold out there. I've even put out a dog house with food in it but they won't go in it. I am sick over this. Please please help me with this situation!1 Thank you for your time. Tracie
Answer Ducks do not go in dog houses or shelter, usually. They should be able to make it through the winter if they have open water. You need to perhaps get a water heater and put out a tub of water for them that doesn't freeze. If they have open water and food, they should be ok. But if they have been living in a grarage and are still young, the alternative is to keep them in the garage. Just give them open water and see how they do, first. Roger Lederer at ornithology.com
