Birding/Humming birds

Question
We are fortunate to have some Humming birds at our feeders.
Can you tell me if Humming birds eat anything else other than nectar ??

Answer
Humming birds do eat insects, especially when they have nests and are raising young. Young hummingbirds need protein and nectar has no protein so the adult hummers eat a lot of insects at that time. But they eat insects all year around because they need a certain amount of protein in their diet.
