Birding/New Bird in Town

Question
Hi Roger,

We have been living in Marin County, CA for over twenty years and this year we began hearing a bird call we have never heard before.  Although we have not seen the bird, it sounds similar in pitch to the mountain Chicadee although the notes are slightly different. We are curious to find out who this new inhabitant is.  Do you have any ideas of how we might find out?

Thanks,

Chris

Answer
Hi. It would be hard for me to diagnose the song from the description, so I suggest you contact the local Audubon society at http://www.marinaudubon.org/ They certainly should be able to give you an answer. For more information on wild birds, see www.ornithology.com. Roger Lederer
