Question
At what age do young Osprey begin to fish for their own food? Do the parents train them, or is it instinctual?
They stay in the nest for about six weeks after hatching and after they leave it, the parents feed them a bit, but they are on their own. Fishing is instinctive, but they do learn a bit by watching their parents. But no training per se. Roger Lederer at Ornithology.com
