No, it was exactly the same question and I did answer it, but apparently you did not receive my answer. Must have been some slippage in the computerized system.Sorry about that.
Anyway, the answer is that no, your mother will not get in trouble feeding Sandhill Cranes as she is not doing it on purpose. In some states Sandhill Cranes are hunted and feeding them would be considered "baiting" which is illegal. I can't imagine anyone would enforce that rule in thsi case. It is also very unusual that Sandhill Cranes would visit a backyard bird feeder.
