Birding/I too have a chichihua

Question
I too have a chichihua, deer, and am worried about the hawks that are nesting in the tree to my next door neighbors.  she only weights 2 pounds 8 ounces and I'm scared that they will get her.  I'm about to have surgery and I don't want to have to worry about her while I'm in the hospital.  The hawk will land in the tree behind our home, will they get her?

Answer
Well, it depends on which type of hawk it is. Anything the size of a red-tailed hawk will be a sure threat if the dog is so small. Kestrels or similar size birds of prey won't be a problem.

Unless you can confirm the species of the hawk, keep your dog indoors, of if you go outside, on a leash that's no longer that 3-4 feet.
