Question
We bought two Finch feedings and got Beautiful real yellow and black winged ones come daily about a dozen or more.  Now I see no birds, do they head south or what.  They make a wonderful sound also.  How does one rid of those big ugly black birds that squack so loud.  Thanks a ton

Answer
I assume that you are talking about the tall feeders that you use for thistle or niger seeds. The yellow and black birds are Goldfinches, and the males only have the yellow and black in the spring before the breeding season (which is later than most birds as they are seed eaters and have to wait until some flowers have seed heads). Depending on where you live, the birds have gone north and will be back later this fall. I live in NE Oklahoma, and I don't put up my thistle feeders until the middle of the fall.

The blackbirds are protected, but usually are just migrating through in the spring and fall.

You will have a lot of other birds if you put up a feeder for black oil sunflower seeds. Be sure to put up a guard if you have squirrels, and FEED ONLY BLACK OIL SUNFLOWER SEEDS, as the cheap and small mixes will attract the killer house sparrows. Bluebird Bob.
