Question
Why are they attracted to intersections?

Answer
I am not an expert on Grackles, but I note that intersections usually have power lines which are good resting places for many birds including blackbirds, starlings, etc. Here I often see grackles in supermarket parking lots, even at night where they get discarded food and insects attracted by the lights.
