Birding/problem crows

Question
I live in central BC. We have a large number of crows in the area. I have a nest in one of my trees. there are no young YET!! It is not possible to see the nest, its quite high. The crows are aggressive towards my children, and other wildlife. I would like to discourage them from nesting in that spot. Any ideas

Answer
Unless they become a real health hazard, and that's unlikely, there is really not much legal that I can think of to do excpet perhaps put lots of mylar strips or other things that blow in the wind in the area. Aluminum pie plates blowing in the wind and making noise might help. Meanwhile, crows may appear to be aggressive but the only wildlife they harm are very small creatures like mice and small birds. I have never heard of them harming children, so not to worry. Roger Lederer at Ornithology.com
