Birding/robin eggs

Question
A man was working on our house today and he  found a nest with two robin eggs in it. The place it was in wasn't easy to get into merely impossible, and I live in New York, so its pretty cold, is there any chance these eggs still have birds in them. They are being kept warm now, just in case. but I want to know if it is a lost cause.

Answer
Most likely these eggs were laid in late summer or early fall, the parent deciding it wasn't going to be able to hatch young that time of year and so abandoned the nest. Given that and the cold temperatures (any freezing temperature for sure) there is no chance that these eggs will evr hatch. Thanks for your concern, though. Roger Lederer at Ornithology.com
