Question
I'm hoping you can help me identify this bird. I only seen it once so I hope I have enough info. It had a short black bill, white around his eyes, mainly black, reddish bib, white maybe speckled breast, 2 white wing bars and about 5-6". I hope this is enough. Also I live in the upper peninsula . Thank you!!
Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I presume? There is nothing that exactly fits that description that I know of. A Rose-breasted Grosbeak comes close as it has a reddish bib and is mainly black with 2 white wing bars. But the beak is white and there is no white around the eye. Can you provide more detail about what the bird looked like and what it was doing? Roger Lederer at Ornithology.com
