Question
Hello, i found a goose abandoned in my lake in front of my property. He is covered in muck and appears to have a broken left leg. He can still stand on it if i hold him up but he cannot walk on it or lay down properly. I'd really like to help him. There are no wildlife rehabilitation centres in my area and the spca said animal control which will kill him. Not sure what to do.........please help. Laura.

Answer
Well, if he actually has a broken leg, and there are no wildife rehab centers in your area, your next choice to to take him to a vet. Broken legs in birds can be very serious. Meanwhile you can wash him with detergent and keep him warm and feed him commercial duck chow. Thanks for your concern.
