I have a Cordon Bleu Finch, male and a Parakeet, also male I think, can I put them together in the same cage?

Hi, Paulyn,

It depends on the individual birds...some birds get along together, some don't.  Be careful here though because the parakeet, which a hooked beak, can possibly inflict more damage to the finch should they get in a serious quarrel.  Also, these bird's dietary requirements are different, and the finch may be more active than the parakeet, depending on the birds.

I recommend sitting these 2 birds next to each other in separate cages to see how they get along through the cages first.  If they seem compatible, let them out of their cages together and see how they do together.  If all seems well, try housing them together.  If it doesn't work out, you'll need to separate them.

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.).
