Question
hi i bought a african grey 5 days afo he was a plucker but i have him nw= and he plucks all day. I cant get into a vet for a week i called all over. please advise now he started to eat the wings at the top working his way down please my email does not work can you call me with a message for some help thanks janet and rudy 9204106214

Everything on this website is done via the website. We do not make telephone calls. You are doing exactly what needs to be done by taking this bird to a certified avian veterinarian (not a dog/cat vet) who can look the bird over to see if there are health reasons for the plucking. Normally, feather plucking is a psychological problem.

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.). I've been published in "Budgies" and "Cockatiels" offered by Bow Tie Productions, and have written avian articles for publication in England. I can provide advice in raising healthy birds, handfeeding/weaning babies, some health problems (although I'm NOT an avian veterinarian), nail/beak/wing clipping, general husbandry, etc. I also have experience with racing/showing homing pigeons. I cannot diagnose specific illness over this website. If you suspect your bird is ill or if you have an emergency, contact an avian veterinarian or emergency pet clinic ASAP.
