Question
Hello
this morning i noticed that one of my birds had a puffy chest ...it looked like her crop was over full of seed food...but i saw that all the seeds were thrown under the grate of the cage...is this normal.... HELP

Answer
Alma,

I'd try removing the access food from the cage temporarily. Watch and see if your birds crop empties out into the stomach like it is supposed to do.

If it does not, your bird has likely run into "sour crop." Sour crop is basically where the food spoils in the crop and then an infection sets in. Although their are other issues that can cause problems with the birds crop, this is, in my experience, the most common.
If your birds crop doesn't empty out in a short amount of time, or you notice other symptoms in her she needs to see a vet asap.

Blessings,
-m
