Question
i have an aviary of parakeets & budgies. but whenever the female birds lay eggs, & the babis come out they are found dead inside the pot with in a week or two.the other day we also found the mothr bird dead along with the babies. why is this happening/ please answer?is it that the other birds are jealous & hurting the babies?
It is more likely that her mate is killing the babes, and in the end her too. Sometimes when breeding in captivity, for one reason or another, the mate will turn on the other mate or the chicks.
You have to keep a close eye out for this, as unfortunately it is one of the issues that arises in captive kept birds.
