QUESTION: Hi Roger. this is Anand. from India.
     I would like to know some info regarding my love birds.i recently gifted a few pairs of love birds to my Mom and Dad. recently these birds gave them great pleasure as a fact my parents started taking care of them a very lot, as such i could unable to know which is female and which is male in them.and one of the birds laid a pair of eggs. am unable to know which one laid.as a result of my delay those eggs were spoled by other birds.please i would like to know how to determine which is female and which is male.and if the bird will again lay the eggs? and if so how to take care of them?kindly guide me.

These are not lovebirds, they are parakeets, also called budgerigars. The male has the bluish cere (the plate above the beak containing the nares (nose) and the female the pink. Easy, huh?
