Birds--General/parakeet nosebleed - trauma

Question
my daughter's parakett flew into mirror and now has a nosebleed.  He appears fine.  Rubbing his beak and head on pirch as if to clean off. Blood is now dark and dry.  Anything we can do to assist?  If ok by 24 hrs the new needn't worry correct?

Answer
Well, we don't know what exactly caused the nosebleed - whether it is the nasal passages, tongue, trachea or lungs. If the parakeet seems fine, that's a good sign. But that is no guarantee nothing is wrong. Dried blood inside nasal passages could cause a problem. If the bird has any trouble breathing or shows any other symptoms, take it to a vet. Nothing else to do except watch and wait.
