Question
I have two pet birds that are cockatails, one started plucking her feathers too much and she turned bald on her feet and under her wing. It started to turn different colors under her wing. Then the other one started too. Does my birds have mites or do i get a new chage, or go to the vet. I am very worried and do going the vet cost alot. Thank you.

How old are your birds?  What type of diet are your birds on?  Do your birds get proper lighting and do they bathe regularly?  Are they molting right now?  Are they under any type of stress?

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.). I've been published in "Budgies" and "Cockatiels" offered by Bow Tie Productions, and have written avian articles for publication in England. I can provide advice in raising healthy birds, handfeeding/weaning babies, some health problems (although I'm NOT an avian veterinarian), nail/beak/wing clipping, general husbandry, etc. I also have experience with racing/showing homing pigeons.
