Question
I don't know what is wrong with my bird. Maybe you can help me. See I noticed that my bird stopped eating one day so I didn't know what to do.. I changed his food out and he started eating again. He's lost weight and sleeps alot now!

He throws up these kinda seed looking things that are yellowish and hard like seeds but they don't look like the bird seeds i feed him.

His poop is also different when i clean out his cage there's way more and it's wetter and not as dry.

I have 3 pictures of what he's throwing up but they are not perfect they are blurrish.

Can you help me?!

Answer
Hi, Donna.  Thanks for posting!

You need to get your keet to an avian veterinarian ASAP.  Do this today...not tomorrow or you could lose this bird.  Not a cat/dog vet, but an exotic animal vet.

The pictures were too blurry for me to tell what they might be, but if your keet is listless, not eating, throwing up, LOSING WEIGHT, etc., s/he is most likely sick and needs medication.

Expertise

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.). I've been published in "Budgies" and "Cockatiels" offered by Bow Tie Productions, and have written avian articles for publication in England. I can provide advice in raising healthy birds, handfeeding/weaning babies, some health problems (although I'm NOT an avian veterinarian), nail/beak/wing clipping, general husbandry, etc. I also have experience with racing/showing homing pigeons. I cannot diagnose specific illness over this website. If you suspect your bird is ill or if you have an emergency, contact an avian veterinarian or emergency pet clinic ASAP.
