Answer
Hi, Anita.  Thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear this.  The chances of this bird finding it's way back home are slim to none, unless someone finds/catches him and returns him to you.  He has no idea where he lives.  In fact, this bird will most likely not survive in the cold weather.  Also, the bird doesn't know how to fend for itself in the wild, so it will not know how to find food, etc.  I think you've done about all you can do to try to find him.

This is a good reason why parrot's flight feathers should be kept clipped in situations where birds are allowed free-flight in the home.

Expertise

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.). I've been published in "Budgies" and "Cockatiels" offered by Bow Tie Productions, and have written avian articles for publication in England. I can provide advice in raising healthy birds, handfeeding/weaning babies, some health problems (although I'm NOT an avian veterinarian), nail/beak/wing clipping, general husbandry, etc. I also have experience with racing/showing homing pigeons. I cannot diagnose specific illness over this website. If you suspect your bird is ill or if you have an emergency, contact an avian veterinarian or emergency pet clinic ASAP.
