Question
my auntie just rescued a budgie that was found in a tree, and we were wondering how old it is, how can you tell? we know its adult, it has light eyes and no stripes on the head. it has a plain green band around its right leg, (we live in the uk).

If the band doesn't have anything imprinted on it, such as a number or letters or combination of these, then it's impossible to judge the age of a budgie once it's in adulthood. If the leg band has printing on it, most of the time, the year of birth is sideways on the band. This would be your best hope.

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.).
