Question
I have a couple of budgies, female has 5 eggs when she had the second egg the male went into the nest and started playing with the eggs placing them in the corners, i asked questions at a pet store near my home, and was told to separate the male, got a breeding cage so they still see each other, kiss, but male is unable to go to the female side.  Am I doing the right thing, I am really worried because i was recently told the male has to feed the female while she s on the nest. Please Help. thank you

Answer
Hi, Tina.  Thanks for posting.

How old were the eggs when the male pushed them to the corners?  It could be that the eggs weren't fertile/weren't going to hatch, so the male moved them away from under the female.  It's normal for parrots to stop incubating infertile eggs or embryos that have died in their shell...in this case, they move them away from the others.  How old are the budgies?  Yes, the male does feed the female while the female is incubating eggs and caring for babies, but I've had instances where the female did all when her mate died or otherwise had to be removed from the cage or kept escaping from the cage.

Get back to me with more details.  Thanks.
