My friend's parakeet has laid 46 eggs to date since January.  11 of the eggs has hatched.  There are 3 in the nest right now.

If this parakeet has laid 46 eggs since January, your friend is grossly overbreeding this bird.  The bird's lifespan will be affected, as well as the bird's health and the health of any offspring.

My parakeet, Kiki...... Had 4 eggs. Her mate, Niki....... is a great father! The babies survived, and I was hand feeding them. Now Kiki had, Yoyo, Josie, Rexy and Deja. I love my babies! Thank for the tips

My parakeet laid 12 eggs already and is still in the nest trying to lay more. This is her first clutch and she has no mate. She lays one and sits on it for a day and when it's time to lay the next one she pushes the prior one out the nest to Lay a fresh one.

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.). I've been published in "Budgies" and "Cockatiels" offered by Bow Tie Productions, and have written avian articles for publication in England. I can provide advice in raising healthy birds, handfeeding/weaning babies, some health problems (although I'm NOT an avian veterinarian), nail/beak/wing clipping, general husbandry, etc. I also have experience with racing/showing homing pigeons. I cannot diagnose specific illness over this website. If you suspect your bird is ill or if you have an emergency, contact an avian veterinarian or emergency pet clinic ASAP.

Experience: Over 20 years raising parrots and over 13 years raising pigeons. Organizations: Currently, American Racing Pigeon Union and American Federation of Aviculture. Prior member Miami Valley Bird Club, Southern Ohio Pigeon Association, National Cockatiel Society, Miami Valley Sportsman's Club, others. Publications: Monthly newsletters of bird clubs.
