hi!
i have 6 parakeets and 2 mated. they were succesful in having 3 baby birds at
the end but i noticed that the parents would get out of the nestboxes often
when the babies gre whte feathers. the parents would only come in the
nestbox when the baby birds start chirping or when they get hungry(the
parents would still feed them). is that ok? will i need to handfeed them?

Hi again, Katelyn,

It is normal as the babies get older that the female not spend as much time in the nesting box with them as she did when they were smaller.  As long as the babies are being properly fed by momma keet, all is OK.  You should handfeed them if you want them to be tame.

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.).
