Question
I have a quaker parrot, and today we found a raw place on his belly, that kind of sticks out, and it's scabbed over. What could this be, is there something wrong with it?

I have no idea what this could be. You'll need to provide more details/information about this area and what's been going on with your quaker so I can try to figure out what's going on. Does your bird pluck itself? Is this bird a male or female? Any eggs? What type of diet is your bird on? Any other birds in the home?

| Comment | We just got the quaker about 2 months ago, so we haven't had it sexed yet, but we had moved him into another room and he wasn't getting as much attention as he was so we think that he may have plucked his feathers. The place has a scab on it, and it looks like raw sore. That's all we could tell because he wouldn't let us look at it because it is on his belly. | ||

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.). I've been published in "Budgies" and "Cockatiels" offered by Bow Tie Productions, and have written avian articles for publication in England. I can provide advice in raising healthy birds, handfeeding/weaning babies, some health problems (although I'm NOT an avian veterinarian), nail/beak/wing clipping, general husbandry, etc. I also have experience with racing/showing homing pigeons.
