Question
I have had two lovebirds in the same cage for a little over two years now but need to give them away.  Is it ok to separate them after being in the same cage for that long?

Hi, Dan.  Thanks for posting.

Yes, it's OK to separate them.  You have to do what you have to do!  They will likely be stressed out for a while from being moved, as well as being separated from each other.  The best thing to do would be to sell or give them away as a bonded pair if they are a male/female bonded pair.  If they aren't friendly, a parrot breeder would be the best choice (if they are male/female).

I`ve been raising/breeding/handfeeding/selling parrots for over 20 years (parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, 6 subspecies of conures, parrotlets, amazons, lovebirds, etc.).
