Birth Control/Period after stopping birth control

Question
I was taking Loestrin for 2 months. I ran out of my prescription and 4-5 days
after my period ended I started taking Yasmin. After 5 days I started getting
morning sickness and I stopped taking it. I had unprotected sex a few times
since then (definitely twice this past week and twice right after my
breakthrough bleeding had stopped- which only lasted for 3 days or so). It's
now 7 days after I normally would have gotten my period had I stayed on the
pill. I don't have any unusual symptoms but I want to know how high my
chance is of becoming pregnant.

Answer
Hi Casey,

If you had unprotected sex then there is a chance you are pregnant, as you could have ovulated this past month (it sounds like you were only on the pill for the first 5 days this month?). However, it is also possible that your period is late because your body is readjusting to being off the pill. Irregular cycles for the first few months off the pill is common.

I recommend that you take a pregnancy test to be sure. If it is negative, wait a few days, and if your period still does not arrive, take another test.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
