Birth Control/Mini pill

Question
QUESTION: I was on the mini pill and didn't like the side effects. I quit taking it three weeks into the pack. When I quit taking it I spotted for a couple of days a week before my period. I am now two days late for my normal period. I have taken two pregnancy tests and they both were negative. Is this normal to be late, or am I pregnant?

ANSWER: Hi Katie,
You're probably not pregnant, but I'd use some other method of birth control for a while.  If you don't get a period in a week or two I'd repeat the pregnancy test.

QUESTION: Thank you. I am now 10 days late, I have been bloated for 10 days, feel tired, and have had negative HPT's. Why would I be this late for my period? Would missing my period make me feel as tho I were pregnant?

Answer
Sometimes it takes a while to get back to your usual ovarian functioning after stopping the pill or mini pill.  That's what I think is happening.  Sometimes the hormonal changes associated with missing your period will make you feel as if you were pregnant.
