Birth Control/Yaz

Question
Hi there,

I just discontinued Yaz in September. I got my period during the last week in September.  I haven't had my period yet for October/November and I'm wondering if I could be pregnant. I had unprotected sex with my husband three times following my discontinuation of Yaz (we live apart at the moment), but 2 times were right after my period ended, and 1 time was the week after that.  Can my discontinued Yaz be delaying my period this month?  Or could I be pregnant so soon?  I've had no symptoms of pregnancy that I know of.  Thank you for your quick response.

Answer
Hi Tiffany,

It is common for a woman's cycle to be irregular for the first 3 months or so after stopping the pill. So this may be the cause of your late period. However, it is also possible that you are pregnant. I recommend that you take a home pregnancy test to be sure. If it is negative, then wait and see if your period arrives. If it does not arrive by next month, give your doctor a call.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
