Question
hello, i had started my period on november 2, and was starting the birth control allesse28, because my doctor told me to start it the first sunday i started my period i did, it was that same sunday [nov 2] so in doing this, my period lasted 3 weeks straight. should i expect a new cycle on december 2? or will it come later seeing as it took so long to stop?
thanks :)

Answer
Hi Katie,
You can expect your next period to come the week of Nov. 23.  Your pill pack has 21 active pills and 7 dummy pills.  When you finish the active pills on Sat. Nov. 22, that will bring your period a few days later.  Start the new pack the day after you finish the present pack, which will be Sunday Nov. 30.  I don't think your period lasted 3 weeks because of the pill.  It probably would have lasted 3 weeks if you hadn't started the pill.
