Question
I have been on the depo shot for over a year now. I got my first shot 6 weeks after my daughter was born. I have never ever had a period once or have had any kind of bleeding or spotting. Latley I have felt like i have been pregnant. I smoke an the first sign i had was gaging from cigeretts. Then my boyfriend sayed i have been moody an my breast look different. then i started spotting only in the morning it was pink the first day an now today it is brown. I have tooken several at home pregnance test just the cheap ones an they have came up negative. But i had the same problem with my first pregnance all my test came out negative. I have been on the shot an i heard also anitbotics can decrease the effect of the birth control. I am just wondering if there is any chance that i could be pregnant.

Answer
Hi Tiffany,

As long as you have been receiving the shot on time and have not missed any, your chances of pregnancy are extremely small. No periods is a common side effect of Depo. Most women on Depo have fewer periods, and many will even stop their period while on the shot. Antibiotics do not decrease the effectiveness of the shot.

I think that you are most likely not pregnant. However, you should call your doctor to have a blood pregnancy test to help ease your mind, especially since you have gotten negative tests while pregnant before.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
