Birth Control/Could I be Pregnant?

Question
Hi Norman,
I had an abortion on 11/14/08. I have not received my period yet, and I am getting worried that I may be pregnant. My boyfriend and I had sex on December 6th. We used a condom and things seemed fine so I didn't think anything of it. However, the last two times we had sex, it seemed as though semen had spilled out of the bottom. There was thick white discharge at the base of his penis. Because of this (and since we had sex 2 times in 3 days) I went to PP and got Plan B. Now thinking back, I am really worried that this same thing happened the first time we had sex. I have heard a lot of times that people are more fertile after an abortion so I am really worried that if the condom did leak at the base than I could be pregnant again, something I definitely do not want. Do you think it's possible or am I just being overly worried about this?
Thanks for your response!

(just some FYI info: I went to a doctor (not the clinic) for my two week check up and they said everything was fine (my cervix was closed and no signs of infection). I also am not on the pill due to cost, but I am going to start soon because I was put on the women's select plan and get can BC for free)

Answer
Hi Jenn,
You probably are not pregnant.  It's not true that you are more fertile after an abortion.  But you do have your normal fertility, so pregnancy is possible.  It's not unusual that your next period after the abortion will be a little late.  When using condoms, it's important that he come out while still erect and hold the base of the condom.
