Question
I take ortho tri cyclen lo, take it every day [been taking it for a few years now]. I start my pills on sundays, and am now on my second sunday. I usually take them in the morning. Me and my husband have unprotected sex and he ejaculates inside of me, but this is always after I take my pill. today I forgot to take my pill in the morning, we had sex in the afternoon and he ejaculated inside of me. I remembered to take my pill after we had sex, which was in the late evening. [still taking the pill in the same day, but hours later and after sex] Will the pill[s] still work?

Answer
In usual circumstances, you should be ok. The hormones in your body should be protecting you but never 100%. No birth control method is 100% safe to prevent pregnancy. Only abstinence. So there is always a slight possibility you can become pregnant at any time, even on birth control pills. I don't usually recommend any kind of hormonal birth control methods. In my opinion, putting hormones in our bodies is not healthy. I recommend Natural family planning, condoms and abstinence because these are not hormonal. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com because I am going on vacation and won't be able to answer any questions on allexperts until I return. Please put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line when you email me. Hope to hear from you soon. And yes, you are supposed to try to take the pill at about the same time every day so if you are not consistent, that would be a little more chance of pregnancy.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
