Birth Control/NuvaRing

Question
Hi, I have been on the NuvaRing for about a year now. This week is the week that the ring is out, and last night my boyfriend and i decided to have sex. Its not the first time we've had sex on my period and nothing bad has ever happened before. We always use a condom and he pulls out before he busts... but last night was different. For some reason, he busted earlier then we thought and when he pulled out we discovered that the condom was broken. Later that same night, my period ended. My period doesnt normally end until the day after i put my NuvaRing in, so i found this really odd. Im supposed to put my NuvaRing in tomorrow, but im scared that my period ending like it did could be a sign of pregnancy. What do you think?

Answer
Hi Alexiss,

I love your name! I'm not a medical doctor so I urge you to see your regular physician. I'm sorry I was not able to answer your question before the time that you were supposed to put the Nuva Ring in. I don't personally recommend the Nuva Ring or any kind of hormonal birth control methods. I don't believe that the hormones are healthy for a woman's body. If you think you could be pregnant, then consult your doctor. Or go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP and find a pregnancy center near you. They will advise you and give you a free test. If you need help finding one, just email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and I can help you. Or we can just talk more.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
