Birth Control/mirena

Question
Me and my hubby are planning on trying to have a baby later this year. I am on the mirena and was reading to find out about how long it takes to conceive a baby. Any way i read that an egg can become fertilized and it just wont stick to the linning of the uterus. Is that the same thing as having a miscarriage? Am i becoming pregnant and it just not be able to go any further. I really didn't under stand. If that does happen are there any birth control methods that do not do that? That will not have an egg become fertilized? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Melissa,

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical professional so, of course, I advise you to talk to your regular doctor. In my opinion, you could probably not use mirena if you are planning to have a baby soon. Many birth control methods work in the way that you stated. The egg can become fertilized but it won't implant in the lining of the uterus. So anyway, I don't really recommend any hormonal birth control methods. I can only recommend abstinence, Natural Family Planning or condoms. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com so we can talk more.

Sincerely,
