Birth Control/One Missed Pill

Question
Hi, I have been on Alesse for almost 8 months now and have been very good at taking my pills. Recently I forgot to take a pill and didn't notice until I was supposed to take my next pill 24hrs later. Should I be very concerned if I have unprotected sex within the next 7 days? I have read information that says I am still protected since I only missed one pill, and other information saying I should use a back-up. I was wondering which information is correct. Thank You

Answer
Hi Ciara,

Thanks for your question and I'm sorry it took me a little longer than normal to answer. I have a sick mother and aunt that I've been dealing with. Anyway, I would go with using a back-up method just in case. I hope you did that but anytime you have sex (even with supposed "protection), you can get pregnant. No method of birth control is 100% effective except abstinence. I don't know your situation and if you could do that. Let me know how you are doing.
You can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com if you want to talk more.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
