Birth Control/Birth control question

Question
I am on my first month of birth control and I misread the directions on the package and instead of starting the pill on the first Sunday of my period I started in on the Sunday after my period.  Is this a big deal?  Am I not protected because I started it late?  Should I stop taking the pills now and re-start after my next period?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Jenn,

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical professional so please check with your own doctor. From what I've read, if you don't start the pill within 6 days of the start of your period, it might not be effective for a month. I can't recommend the pill at all because I don't believe it is a healthy birth control method. I think the hormones are not good for our bodies. Please reconsider your birth control method and perhaps even consider abstinence if that is possible for your lifestyle. You may email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com if you want to talk more.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
