Question
I'm on my 2nd shot of depo and I've had my period for 3 weeks now is this normal. when i got my 1 shot my period stopped right away. but this time it wont stop. is it normal??

Answer
Desiree,

Yes, it is normal. When beginning any new form of hormonal birth control it is normal to have long, heavy periods, or no period at all. Every body is different. I would say that if it lasts 4 weeks, and is very heavy, then you should talk to your doctor just to be on the safe side. Typically, these side effects can last as long as 3 months. Many women actually don't have a period at all when they are on the depo shot; maybe you won't either after this passes.

Hope I could help,
