Question
I have been getting an injection form of contaceptives for the past year now and ever since i haven't got my periods,is this normal not to get my periods for a whole year. Also ever since i have lost weight and i cant seem to get it back please help because i look like a different person because of this

Answer
Violy,

Yes, with the injected form of birth control, it is extremely common to not have a period. I was on the same injection for about 3 years, and I didn't have a period for the entire three years either. Its nothing to worry about. As for your weight loss, that does sound a little unusual considering most women experience weight gain when on hormonal birth control. Everyone is different however, so you probably don't need to worry about it-though if you are really having a hard time gaining it back, you should check with a doctor because it might be due to something other than your birth control.

If you really don't like not having your period, I would recommend talking it over with your doctor or nurse practitioner to see if there might be a better option for you.

Hope this helped!
