Question
I don't know if I am in the right area but I will give it a go. Hi, as you know my name is Markeisha I am 16 years old and have suffered 4rm an irregular period since I 1st started at 12. I've spoken to other people years ago and they told me not to worry about it and that it will regulate over the years. However, as you may have guessed, it has not. One of my older friends told me that I can use birth control to regualate my period. All this to ask if using the birth control patch could also regulate my period? I really feel strongly about pills because of my mother and I don't take any type of medicine unless percribed and even if so I only take it as I am in pain and I discontinue use a.s.a.p. Sorry that this is so long...I also volunteer on this site and I know how it feels to get long questions. I would like to have kids in the future...and I know that irregular periods can lead to infertility.
Most grateful,
Markeisha Barbee

Answer
Did you get my email from 7/26? Please let me know if I can be of help.

Hi Markeisha,

Thanks for your question. I don't recommend the birth control patch at all. If you don't want to take pills, which are hormones, the same applies to the patch except it is stronger and direct. There have been many side effects found from the patch. Also, some women have died from the dosage. Even pro-choice women don't recommend the patch because of health reasons. I know you are saying that you have an irregular period but I don't think the patch is a good choice to do that. I can send you more information if you email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
Hope to hear from you soon.
