Question
So i took the morning afterpill june 14 after the condom slipped off. i got my normal period about a week or so later. Then starting yesterday i was getting pains below my left ribs for a little bit but they went away. today i am having lower ab pains and back pains. i also been flatulating a lot more and been pooping on a daily bases. im thinking its because i havnt been eating very healthy/ good meals. i also have been working but i have been siting doing nothing for 8 hours start at work. i was wondering if this has anything to do with the morning after pill. i read about something called like a misplaced birth or something and its making me kind of worried. what do you think it is?

Answer
Ashley,

I have never heard of your symptoms being caused by the morning after pill. Since you took it over a month ago, it would be unlikely that what you are experiencing have anything to do with the emergency contraception.

As far as a "misplaced birth", I'm guessing you mean an ectopic pregnancy, which is when a pregnancy develops in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus. This is not caused by emergency contraception, but it could be possible that that is what has happened. This is really sort of rare, but since you are having abdominal pains I would suggest you see a doctor just to be on the safe side. An ectopic pregnancy can be very dangerous. Chances are that you have nothing to worry about, but its better to know for sure.

Hope I could help,
