Birth Control/frequent periods

Question
I'm 13 and i recently got my period. I have noticed that it comes frequently. I got it on the 13th and i got it again today on the 31st. i don't know what could cause this besides the fact that i haven't really been eating all that much. I'm not starving myself but I'm not really hungry during the summer. so i was wondering if that was something that birth control could fix? also i don't know how to explain this to my mom without sounding like i just want birth control to have sex because I'm just getting immersed in boys. but I'm not a slut and i won't have sex so i was also wondering as a woman if you could also give me some advice on how to bring it up. please and thank you

Answer
Hi Julia,

Thanks for your question. I don't recommend birth control pills or any kind of birth control for this reason. I would say, talk to your mom and tell her you started your period and it came on the 13th and on the 31st. Ask her what you should do about that. I don't think you should take birth control for regulating your periods. The natural way is the best way and the way God made us. I am happy to hear that you want to stay sexually pure and not have sex. That's a good attitude to have. Many young women and men are choosing this way of life in these days instead of being sexually active. Hormonal birth control has side effects and risks and I don't want you to do anything unhealthy. You can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and I can tell you more about the unhealthy aspects.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
